No sign of a slowdown for Allen’s building boom

Standing in a vacant field just off U.S. Highway 75, you can hear the buzz of traffic and watch shoppers ducking into the outlet mall across the street.  Until recently, a little yellow farmhouse sat on the side of Stacy Road at Chelsea Drive. A year ago there were crops planned in the field stretching all the way back to the line of trees to the south.

Come back in a year and you’ll find a row of restaurants, shops and construction underway on apartments and townhouses.  The last vacant corner in Allen at U.S. 75 and Stacy is finally under construction.

Provident Realty Advisors and Glaser Retail Partners are building the 80-acre Stacy Green mixed-use project on one of the last properties owned by Allen’s pioneer Stacy family. The first phase of the development — which is eventually planned to include offices, hotel rooms and a large park — will be ready in the summer of 2019.

“The city of Allen is one of the most vibrant communities in the country today,” Provident Realty’s CEO Leon Backes told a crowd gathered recently for the groundbreaking. “This intersection is the center of gravity for this part of Collin County. What’s missing is a vibrant mixed-use project.”
